We are seeking an elder from each of our member communities to become a part of our team. The purpose of the elder is to help support and guide the work of the Community Health Planner and the Northwest Community Engagement HUB in the implementation of the Communication, Collaboration and Health Planning activities with each community.

We are currently accepting applicaitons. Interviews will take place in January 2011 and the position will start in May 2012.

Please contact the HUB office or your local Health Station and/or Band office to obtain an application form.

To create awareness to our program and to  have our website utilized, we have decided we will give a little initiative…to show you have visited our website, you must email us 3 different “topic” items from our page.

You will then be entered into a draw for great prizes: 1st prize: a Digital Camera, 2nd prize: a $50 Walmart gift card and 3rd prize: a $30 Walmart gift card.

Deadline for entries is February 14, 2012.

The turn out for this event was huge! The feed back and participation from the community was plentyful. The age range was from small babies to elder.

A mini feast took place. Soup was served and goodies were handed out.

Team building activities, community visioning activities were offered and taken well by the community.

A presentation by the New Hazleton RCMP detachmen was made. Open floor for questions followed.

At the end of the evening, all the visioning was compiled and presented back to the community in summary form.

Gitanyow Human Services offered many great door prizes.

Season Greetings from the Northwest Community Engagement HUB!!!

We have been busy out in our 8 member communities with Community Health Planning and attending Annual General Meetings, working hand in hand with the community members to identify Health Priorities.

Our office is located at the Gitxsan Health Society’s main office building at 4260 Government Street in HAzelton. This office is a “flow through” organization that assists our program with administrative responsibilities. Both Verna and Francine are available Monday to Friday, should you like to come by and discuss any issues you may have about your community and Health related issues, please feel free to stop by or call us at 250-842-5165 ext. 379. Our HUB office will be closed from December 23/11-January 3/12 for Christmas holidays.

We are having a 6 question HUB Survey Contest to raise awareness to what the HUB is and has to offer…all members of our 8 member service area are eligble. Once questionnaire is complete and forwarded to our office, you will be entered into a draw for great prizes.

You will need to do a little research on 6 topics relating to the NWCEH: First Nations Health Council, First Nations Health Society, Northwest Community Engagement HUB, Transformative Change Accord, Tripartite 1st Nations Health Pland and the 7 Health Actions.

Early Bird draw deadline is December 20, 2011 at 4pm. 1st Place $100 Staples gift card, 2nd place $50 Walmart gift card.

Regular draw entry deadline is January 26, 2012 at 4pm. There will be 2 draws for a $50 Walmart giftcard.

Francine Lawlor was the successful applicant for the NWCEH Assistant position. She started working with Verna on August 4, 2011. They share an office at Gitxsan Health main office building and both work Monday to Friday. We look forward to haveing Francine as a part of the team
